"The Right to Smoke Weed"

True underground sludgers with a punk attitude from authoritarian Russia released a pro marihuana legalization concept album “The right to smoke weed!” in March 2018 via Zero Hero Recordings. This was the first time in history of Russian heavy music to raise this vital topic.

Though listing only 4 tracks this monolith of an album is a testament of modern day prohibition, a valuable research study of the prohibited topic. The voice samples are outtakes from public speeches of Russian politicians, cultural figures, newsmakers, doctors and common people on vital problem of marihuana legalization.

The first 2 songs are on the side of more traditional sludge metal at its rawest flavoured with noise electronics and samples. But the following 2 pieces starting with the title track “The right to smoke weed!” are unconditional experiments of songs engaging industrial, hip-hop, noise, techno, dark ambient and drone music genres.
